YK Pao School Students Have School Sleepover

yk-pao-sleepoverOn October 14th, Year 3 students at YK Pao School didn’t go home when the bell rang. Had the entire year been put in detention? Far from it. Each year, Year 3 spends a night at school playing games, having fun and camping out in the classroom. This activity is a chance for children to bond as a year group, and to get used to spending time away from home in preparation for trips away in Years 4 and Year 5.

The main event of the evening was the YK Pao Rush. Just like in the TV show China Rush, teams of students had to make their way around the school completing challenges as they went, each task testing their ability to work together as a team. Students had to build towers, solve puzzles, and to demonstrate their trust in each other by falling backwards to be caught by their teammates.

After the excitement of the Rush had died down, students went outside to look at the moon and stars using high-powered telescopes, and shared stories in the library. Students then settled down in sleeping bags to spend the night in the classrooms, most sleeping like logs after a busy evening. Students woke up to a splendid breakfast laid out in the Dining Hall brought in by the parents, with croissants, dumplings, and cereal, bringing together the best of Chinese, American, and European
