Year After Year

Each year we say we’ll change for the better,

Two thousand and twelve was just like the rest,

Nothing was done and the world got bleaker,

Could we be failing the ultimate test?

A powerful storm has declared a war,

Allied with forces that we can’t fight off,

We are running out of time, we need more,

But time stops for no one, we shall die-off.

The storm isn’t stopping the war at home,

For freedom they fight, their voices unheard,

Echoes of suffering fill the mosque’s dome,

Here, the notion of hope is just absurd.

While, two thousand and twelve has come and gone,

This year, we can’t let the story go on.
