Students had an intense day of rehearsals and attended a concert celebrating Chopin’s birthday on the first day. On the second day, the students filed into the theatre for the Full Mozart Requiem rehearsal accompanied by the Beijing Youth Orchestra and four guest soloists from the China Conservatory of Music. In the evening the audience was treated to Symphony No. 41, K. 551 “Jupiter” by W. A. Mozart conducted by Dr. Robert Hasty and Requiem; K. 626 by W. A. Mozart conducted by Mr. Shane O’Shea. The orchestra was comprised of players from the Beijing Youth Orchestra and ABRSM Grade 8 students from various international schools. After this all the performing students were ushered on to the stage for the premiere performance of the Requiem in this concert hall. The atmosphere was electrifying and the students were overwhelmed with a sense of anxiety, anticipation, and exhilaration.
