ycis-basketball1The Year of the Dragon is off to a roaring start for Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS Shanghai) sports teams, with the girls winning first place at the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS) basketball tournament in Hong Kong and the boys taking second behind SSIS Suzhou.

ACAMIS arranges international schools from different geographical regions into groups for sports competitions that end with a three-day tournament hosted annually by a different member school of the group. YCIS Shanghai’s performance at the basketball tournament caps off the girls’ team’s outstanding record of 19-1 for the season. The boys’ team had one of the strongest season records ever at 23–3.

Both teams were also undefeated in the Shanghai International Schools Athletic Conference (SISAC) regular season play and both finished as SISAC League Champions.

For the SISAC League Champions, YCIS Girls won 10 and lost 1; YCIS Boys won 14 and lost 0. For ACAMIS Champions, YCIS Girls won 7 and lost 0, with a Season Record of 19-1; YCIS Boys – won 6 lost 1, with a Season Record of 20-4.

Congratulations go to the students and teachers for showing the same dedication toward pursuing excellence on the field as well as in the classroom.
