The Yew Chung International School of Shanghai (YCIS) Parents Organization Pudong (POP) Annual Fund Raising Gala Dinner was successfully held in December! Again this year, 100% of the proceeds went to Heart to Heart Shanghai, and all will be used to pay for heart operations for needy Chinese children.

ycis-gala-2sIt was a lovely evening, full of laughter and good will. Eight talented YCIS young musicians graciously provided professional quality classical music for the cocktail hour before dinner. Parents, teachers and administrators filled the Astor Ballroom at The St. Regis Hotel Shanghai where they not only enjoyed an excellent dinner, but were treated to an acappella performance by one of YCIS primary teachers and later danced the night away to the beat of our own homegrown band made up of Pudong and Puxi teachers!

“POP is thrilled to have hosted an event that so completely fulfills its primary mission: to bring our community together, to foster friendships and a sense of goodwill among all for the benefit of our children, our schools, our community and ourselves,” shared Tess Robinson of YCIS POP.

The donations received in association with this event combined with proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction has resulted in a significantly larger donation to Heart to Heart this year: RMB 141,390 has been raised at the last count, which is 62% more than last year. As each heart operation costs approximately 25,000 RMB our YCIS Shanghai, Pudong Campus community will fully sponsor operations for 5-6 children.
