ycis-bags-hopee589afe69cacYCIS Beijing Secondary students held their annual charity project ‘The Packs of Hope’. Students volunteered time during the month of January to obtain donations of toys, school supplies, toiletries, and clothing that would fill donated backpacks. The backpacks would benefit a pair of orphans in Anhui province.

In a record charity drive, YCIS Secondary students surpassed the previous year’s record of 146 donated backpacks, and this year they filled 165 packs. On January 26, Year 11 students went around to all classrooms collecting the backpacks and placed them outside on the YCIS sports court. At a school break time, all YCIS Secondary students gathered around the backpacks to witness their contribution. The YCIS Secondary School Coordinator, Peter McCombe, spoke to students about the significance of their donation. He highlighted the importance of giving back throughout the year and that their efforts would have a direct impact on the betterment of orphan’s lives within China.

The backpacks were loaded into a van that delivered the backpacks to Anhui in time for the Chinese New Year.
