ycis-qd-qufu_1Yew Chung International School of Qingdao continually seeks opportunities to embrace love and charity; one direct and very real way is via its key charities including Seeds of Hope.

The first Seeds of Hope completed school, constructed following the successful raising of funds from all the schools in the YCIS network, is located in Qufu, Shandong Province. The Qufu region is synonymous with deep-rooted Chinese tradition and scholars.

A hands-on field trip with community service hours is believed to be the best way to absorb the value of ‘giving’. Recently this Qufu Seeds of Hope school received its second visit from secondary students of YCIS Qingdao who were joined by fellow Yew Chung students from Shanghai and the Yantai Yew Wah School.

During this trip the students became involved in helping with some outdoor painting of school slogans, including Chinese motivational mottos. They also delivered English communication through singing simple songs, fun game playing and activities. The simple exchange of collaborative break time games and the general socializing consistently gave pleasure to all; mutual benefits were exchanged through even the smallest of kind gestures.

On the last day, Tuesday  October 23, YCIS students donated several refurbished computers for teachers’ use in their staff room. In addition English reading books for the students were presented for use in class.
