In June 2010, Choi, Min Kyung (Kiki), ycis-qd-kiki-sa new student at Yew Chung International School of Qingdao (YCIS Qingdao) was entered early for one examination, the Chinese IGCSE (Foreign Language). In September the news came in that she had gained the highest mark in the world!

After receiving the news of attaining the world’s top mark, Kiki’s smile beamed as the girl said: “I still can’t believe I’m in that position; it sounds like a story about someone else! I would like to say thank you to my teachers and especially Wang Laoshi who was my IGCSE Chinese teacher – she gets a special mention as she helped me to present my thoughts in Chinese language plus how to prepare for the exams.”

Later on, Kiki shared her feelings about the exam: “I have been studying Chinese for some time so I feel quite comfortable but as I prepared for the Oral Test – I found I became nervous so I kept practicing with friends. There are three different exams to take; Oral, Writing and Reading.”

In the future, Kiki said she would like to aim for a University in Korea that has an exchange program so she may study overseas. “I am considering Economics or Psychology,” said the girl.
