Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS) recently hosted a University of Cambridge International Examination (CIE) workshop for First Language Chinese.

Sixteen teachers from schools in China attended the training conducted by Gao Fei from Westminster School, London. The workshop gave the teachers of Chinese an opportunity to discuss teaching ideas and approaches. Christine Xu, the Chinese coordinator at Yew Chung, was a guest presenter. During her session, an interesting discussion arose regarding the best practices she has developed over her 12-year career at YCIS.

YCIS had already hosted Physics and Mathematics workshops for CIE and hopes, with support from International Schools in China, to be able to continue its role as a workshop centre for CIE in China and next year offer further training in other subject areas.

Recommended as a model CIE school, YCIS was recently visited by 14 teachers from the Orchlon School, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, which is seeking accreditation with CIE. It was proposed during the visit that YCIS visit Ulaanbaatar next year as part of the Leadership programme for IB students.
