Yew Chung International School of Beijing  (YCIS Beijing) is happy to announce their new ECE Coordinator for the 2015-16 school year, Maryanne Harper.

Harper is originally from Australia and has just moved to Beijing with her husband, David. They are blessed to have three beautiful daughters, Sarah, Emilie, and Amy, who all live in Melbourne. Harper first started her teaching career in Sydney in 1982. Since then she has taught in schools and kindergartens in Queensland and Victoria. Prior to the role at YCIS Beijing, she had been teaching in Cairo, Egypt.

“This was our first experience in an international school setting. It gave us wonderful insights into a different culture as well as broadened our horizons in terms of opportunities for travel. This got us contemplating other parts of the world to explore,” said the new ECE coordinator.

Harper has always worked in Early Childhood settings. She said she is always inspired by the honesty and joy of small children and enjoys helping them to grow and develop. She prides herself on building positive, supportive, and encouraging relationships with children, colleagues, and families.

“To be able to introduce a love of learning is a wonderful reward! Relationships in learning are paramount and I am so proud of the profound difference I have made in the lives of the literally hundreds of children whom I have taught.”

She thinks it is very important to offer children an environment that is safe and encouraging. The new YCIS ECE building offers play spaces that are modern, flexible, and inspirational! “It is a privilege to join the team at YCIS and I look forward to making a significant contribution to the education of our children as they start their learning journey.”
