Students of Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS Beijing) can celebrate another year of exceptional academic accomplishments within the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exams.

An astonishing number of students achieved grades of A* or A, while perhaps even more impressive was the extensive obtainment of Distinctions and Merits within the year group. With over 80% of students obtaining grades of A* to C across all subjects, it was certainly another fine achievement to add to the already distinguished reputation YCIS Beijing has within the IGCSE course. The results the students have received are just reward for the hard work they have put into their studies and will have prepared them well for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in the coming years.

Chloe Lee from Singapore achieved all A and A* scores in her IGCSE results and was particularly grateful to her teachers and family who helped her during the IGCSE programme, “My teachers were a great source of support, providing all the encouragement and preparation necessary for us to succeed. My math teacher, Ms Egwuatu, pushed me to not give up and had faith in my abilities even when I didn’t, and in the end it has really paid off! My parents I wish to thank as well of course, for the tough love that gave me the motivation to work hard not just for them but my own benefit as well.”

Wan Teng Lee from Malaysia, who obtained all A* grades across all nine subjects she studied, also spoke of the support she received during the IGCSE course, “It was the cooperative efforts of both my teachers and parents that helped me through the course. In terms of the academics, my teachers have definitely helped me most as they are all very experienced educators; they’ve made sure all of us were well prepared to face our exams. At home, my parents were also very helpful, as they know the best ways to help me release my stress; they’ve made sure that I didn’t put too much pressure on myself by reminding me to take a break from time to time. I feel very grateful to have all these supportive people around me!”

The scores achieved within these examinations further highlight the reasons behind YCIS receiving the “Cambridge Award for Excellence in Education” in 2012 following the achievements of previous years, including “Cambridge Top in the World IGCSE Award”, “Top in China IGCSE Award”, “High Achievement in IGCSE Awards” and “Best across Nine Subjects IGCSE Award”.

Congratulations must go to all students for their fantastic achievements and all those within the YCIS Beijing family wish them well for their further study in the IBDP.
