Enter the gates of Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS Beijing) and it is difficult not to notice the new Primary Library. With its sleek cantilevered design, bamboo frosted windows and hanging pod chairs, the new library is 21st century in appearance and in learning techniques. Inside, Mac computers will be installed for looking up books or researching on the Internet. A projector allows for presentations and class instruction, and the sitting area is prime a spot for readings by visiting authors.

The YCIS Beijing Primary Library’s location on the first floor serves as a reminder to students, parents, and teachers of the importance of reading. It will become an epicenter for primary learning and bilingual literature. Among international schools in Beijing, the YCIS Beijing Primary Library retains one of the largest Chinese/English children’s book collections.
