The competition brought together six schools from across China in a round robin format, with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-final and final knockout. After finishing top of the round robin stage, confidence was high among the YCIS Beijing under-19 boys team. They duly reached the final with a last minute 1-0 victory over TEDA International School from Tianjin, but had to settle for the 2nd place after a missing out in the final under similar circumstances with a narrow 1-0 defeat in the last minute of the game.

The boys’ hard fought victory in the semi-final was one of the highlights of this year’s ACAMIS Football competition as David Yamamoto scored his 6th goal of the of the 3-day sports event to finish as the top scorer in the tournament. Yamamoto and YCIS Beijing’s Bryan Wong were included in the team of the tournament for their professional and high quality performances. Despite the last minute disappointment, the courage, teamwork and great attitude displayed by the entire squad is something that will surely build the character of these young athletes.
