ycis-beijing-help-local-orphan-news1Last March, Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s (YCIS Beijing) Parent Organization hosted an Oscars Charity Ball to raise funds for the New Day Foster Home charity. It was a fun-filled evening with performances by students, live auctions, and delicious food.

But in addition to the fun and entertainment, most importantly the event was able to raise 230,000 RMB to be spent on children in need.

The funds were used to provide medical treatment for two local children, Catherine and Ronan, who were in desperate need of life-saving heart operations.

Both Catherine and Ronan were originally told by doctors that their bodies were too weak to endure the stress of surgery.

But New Day Foster Home didn’t give up. They contacted top cardiologists in the United States who said that there was still hope and provided the needed support for the operations.

Now, both children have undergone successful operations and are recovering more quickly than doctors anticipated. Catherine is eating well and is on track for a full recovery, while Ronan was released from the hospital only nine days after his surgery and is in great spirits.
