Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS Beijing) Co-Teachers Hope Che and Jacki Jensen recently gave a presentation on their experience of Co-Teaching for the annual Alliance for International Education (AIE) conference in Shanghai.ycis-aie-s

Co-Teaching is a unique model in YCIS Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Primary where two teachers work together to plan lessons and manage the classroom. The results of the model are easy to see in students who are not only bilingual but able to navigate comfortably between Western and Eastern cultures. However, the process of Co-Teaching can be somewhat mysterious. Hope and Jacki’s presentation was very effective in making the process transparent and easy to follow.

On returning from the AIE conference, Hope and Jacki were also invited to give the presentation to all YCIS Beijing staff. For those teachers working in the Secondary school who may be unfamiliar with the Co-Teaching model, this was a very valuable experience as it gave them an insight into the unique practices and processes of Co-Teaching.
