wiss-intl-dayThe 8th International Day at the Western International School of Shanghai (WISS) was graced with beautiful, sunny weather and incredible parent involvement.

Parents and staff created booths to represent their home country and filled these booths with decorations, activities and great food and refreshments. There were close to 40 country booths this year and they received over 1,500 visitors. The school community got to enjoy tastes from around the world as they moved from booth to booth sampling delights.

Besides student performances highlighting songs or a dance from their country, there was also a special guest performance by the Kliptown Youth Program (KYP) Gumboot Dancers from South Africa.

The International Day at WISS is unique in the fact that it is a completely free, community-building event. It fosters community through the teamwork of each country group working to prepare their booth and in the bringing together of the whole community on such a fun day filled with national pride and international flair.
