wiss-intl-dayInternational Day at WISS started four years ago and is a time for all the 40 cultures represented within the school community to come together in the spirit of togetherness. Setting up stalls for food, games, activities, photos, artifacts, and a bewildering array of other collectibles makes the whole school a magnet for curious children hungry for a taste of other countries. The history of Turkey, the food of Italy, and the clothes of Japan – the day was celebrating the origins and the places families left behind on their global adventure. Of course, International Day is also a time to reflect about home and the loved ones we miss so much. Music and dance fills each moment of International Day, two stages buzz with the sights and sounds of dozens of distinct cultures. ‘Studio 188’ lent their professional musical touch this year again to help us raise money for community charity in South Africa.

International Day at WISS is a warm time of unity, with singing and dancing, and the best food from 40 different countries. It is a time to remember where we come from and be proud of being world citizens. It is a time to reinvent the expat adventure we are on and see China with new eyes; the eyes of someone who has seen this fabulous new world for the first time. No wonder the children love it!
