wellington_news2-under-spotlightThe first term at Wellington College International Shanghai wrapped up with a two-week showcase of talent and achievement in all areas – sporting, academic, inside the classroom and out.

On Saturday, 29 November and Monday, 1 December, Wellington’s Junior and Senior School choirs performed at the Shangri-La Pudong and Intercontinental Hotels Tree Lighting ceremonies. This was a first for Wellington pupils to perform outside of the campus, and they received a large ovation from the audience at both events.

The Music Department once again put on an amazing School Concert on 4 December, with performances from Years 3, 4 and 5, as well as the Junior and Senior School choirs, the Year 9 Band, the Wind Ensemble, the String Ensemble, the Drumming Group and the Wellington College orchestra. It finished with a sensational finale featuring all Wellington’s musicians on stage at once performing carols.

The next day, the Early Years and Key Stage 1 pupils presented their first Nativity Play to staff and parents in the College Theatre. After three months of weekly and weekend rehearsals, Wellington’s Performing Arts and Music Departments successfully staged its first major pupils’ production, Jack and The Beanstalk, the Pantomime, on 10 and 11 December.

To end the celebrations, the tremendously supportive Friends of Wellington – Wellingtons’ parents association – organized its first ‘Breakfast with Santa’ for the Junior School pupils – the perfect way to end such a busy final two weeks of this term.
