wellington-uk-exchange-tripOn 28 April, a group of ten Year 6 students from Wellington College International Tianjin led by their two teachers departed to Eagle House, the Junior School for Wellington College in the UK. This visit is part of the series of annual exchange trips between Wellington UK and its partner school in Tianjin.

Starting in London, the group spent two full days visiting the famous tourist and historical sites – the London Eye, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge, Cleopatra’s Needle, the Shard, Westminster Abbey, and the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace were all on the list, as well as an obligatory photo under the Wellington Arch!

Saturday was spent at Eagle House shadowing their Year 6 students around some of their lessons. Mr. Neill Lunnon, Deputy Head at Eagle House School, gave the team a warm welcome and guided their tour of the grounds at Wellington College and Eagle House by recounting the history of the place and various people connected with the school. During their stay at Eagle house, Wellington students also gave short presentations about life in China and what is it like to go to school at Wellington College in Tianjin.

The Year 6 students continued their visit with the village of Eton, Windsor Castle and Portsmouth Historic Dockyards, where they saw the famous ships HMS Victory and the Mary Rose.

The visit to the UK was a great success for everyone and a return is planned next year!
