Wellington College Student Exchange Program a Great Success

Reflective of Wellington College International Shanghai’s drive to push its pupils outside their comfort zones, into new environments, inspire self-sufficiency and challenge preconceptions of an unfamiliar culture, the school has just completed its first, and very successful, exchange program.

For the first half of the summer term, Gabriel spent five weeks at Wellington College’s Prep school, Eagle House exchanging with Thomas from Eagle House who spent half a term at Wellington College in Shanghai.

Gabriel came away from the experience having been very well looked after, and inspired by his peers. “I was impressed with how well-spoken and well-mannered everyone was,” says Gabriel. “The lessons were always stimulating because of their practical focus. I especially enjoyed the ‘hands on’ approach to science and my English classes where we read The Canterbury Tales and learnt about the history of England.”

Over the course of the five weeks in the UK, Gabriel experienced the exciting life of being an Eagle House pupil, which included entering a design competition, playing cricket, and seeing the sights of Berkshire.

“We visited Windsor Castle and had a traditional cream tea in a teashop there. Who knew jam and cream could taste so good together?”

This year’s exchange program was a great success and more are planned for Wellington College students next year!
