dcb-walking-with-lionsThis summer, 24 intrepid Dulwich College Beijing (DCB) students from Y11-13 set off with Mr. West, Ms. Palmer and Ms. Brown on a 3,200 km road trip through South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

Beginning in Johannesburg, after a visit to Soweto and Nelson Mandela’s house, they headed north into Botswana for a 3-day dug-out canoe safari in the mighty Okavango Delta, before heading north to Chobe National Park, and then into Zimbabwe.

They visited Victoria Falls, bungee-jumped, gorge-swung, White Water rafted and micro-lighted before heading to Antelope Park where they fed elephants and walked with lions.

The trip was crowned by spending a few days doing service work at Bunina Village Primary School, where our students taught the local children a variety of subjects. They also loaded vans of thatching grass, built benches and provided sports equipment, as well as leaving a legacy for finishing their new classroom building with roofing sheets, cement and payments to building workers.

It was truly the adventure-trip of a lifetime for the students, and also gave them the chance to make a difference to the lives of the villagers in Bunina.
