wab-isac-runnersIt was a big relief to see bright blue skies on the morning of October 10th - the day of the ISAC Cross Country. Anticipation for the first ES ISAC meet of the year was high among the runners, coaches and parents.

The team of 75 Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) students from grades 2 through 5 arrived at host school, Beijing International Bilingual Academy (BIBA), eager to run. Grade 2 races started off the day, with runners completing a 1,000m course. Grade 3 and 4 students completed a 1,600m course, while Grade 5 students ran 2,000m. At race time, WAB runners and competitors from various schools around Beijing crowded the starting line. The start of the races saw runners jostle for a good position, with the dominant runners soon taking the lead and breaking away from the group. The WAB runners quickly settled into the races and were able to move past many of the other competitors to complete the races.

Many WAB runners placed within the top 15 for each race, which signified an outstanding effort. WAB dominance was evident when the team came away from the meet with a total of 12 gold medals (from a possible 13), 4 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.

Congratulations to all of the WAB runners. Participants celebrated their results and boasted pride in positively representing WAB.
