Starting September 2012, there will be a new choice for K-12 international education for 3-18 year olds in Xi’an – The Hanova International Department of Bodi School, Xi’an (Hanova). Hanova is a community-driven, independently owned and operated organization backed by the Hanova Company and Bodi School.

The school was introduced to the public in Xi’an at an Opening Ceremony held on May 6th, 2012 where parents, members of the Shaanxi government, the Principal and Chairperson of the Bodi School and many other interested people got their first glimpse of the new campus and met with staff to discuss the school’s inaugural year and beyond.

Hanova is committed to becoming an IBDP School within 2-3 years, offering diplomas for year 13 (grade 12) students. In addition, Hanova has already begun the process of working towards PYP and MYP authorization as well as offering external benchmarking for primary and middle school students, as well as year 11 high stakes testing and Advanced Placement.

Principal Mr Martin Hughes has 23 years’ experience as principal of 5 different schools. He was born, educated and worked for many years in the UK, and has come to Hanova from Suzhou where he was Principal of EtonHouse International Education group’s flagship school in China, leading it to International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program authorization and Primary Years Program reauthorization.

Mr Hughes leads a highly motivated team including 17 highly qualified and experienced teachers from Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, UK, and the US. All teachers possess a minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree with a teaching certificate and 5 years’ teaching experience, with many teachers also holding EAL certification.

The entire school community is buzzing with excitement at this new educational opportunity and extends a warm welcome to all who would like to stop by for a visit.
