After two years of exciting and intensive work on the IB Visual Arts course, three IB Art students at Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS) recently cooperated to exhibit a collection of their best works of art. This is the first Yew Chung IB and IGCSE Visual Arts exhibition.

The opening night of the exhibition was a fascinating experience for both the students and the viewers; guests casually walked in and appreciated the artworks created by the IB and also IGCSE Art students.

Some of the Performing Arts students enhanced the exhibition by performing classical and modern music, whilst other students supported their friends by serving light refreshments.

The students were encouraged by the positive feedback from many of the guests, as well as offers to buy some of the works on display.

Being involved in a successful exhibition like this has given the students a glimpse of the possibilities in the future if they choose to pursue the subject further. And whilst the overall course was challenging, it has empowered all of the students involved by enabling them to develop their technical skills and harness their imagination.

The exhibition acted as a conclusion of the course and was a milestone for all of the art students. They could gain a good understanding of each student’s world view through the representation of ideas within each piece.
