The Child Academy recently finished their "Hungary" Week. To start the lesson off, the students learned about the Hungarian flag, and were introduced to the map of the country with a focus on famous sites and towns.  Next, two Hungarian students at the school, sisters Liza and Milla, dressed in traditional Hungarian dresses with flower embroidery and taught the students a famous folk song and dance from their country. The children enjoyed learning about the animals found in Hungary, some being unique to the area. Later the students learned about popular foods of the country, including the story of the paprika pepper. Afterwards, they were served a special snack of “kokusztekersc” (a coconut and chocolate swirl cake) from a handmade basket as is customary. To end the lesson, the children played with Rubik’s cubes after learning the inventor was Hungarian.

The Child Academy also hosted a Valentine’s Day Party where students took a break from their daily school uniforms and dressed up in red, pink and purple. They made Valentine’s Day cards for their mommies and shared heart-shaped sweets with their classmates. Next will be the "Lebanon" Week where the both campuses of the Child Academy will learn more about another one of the home countries from the diverse school community.
