r-u-ok-art-competitione589afe69cacOn R U OK? Day, the winners of this year’s R U OK? Day School Art Competition were announced. The competition, focusing on the theme “A conversation could change a life”, received over 70 entries from middle and high school students around Shanghai.

The esteemed judges, Monte Rosen (ELG’s co-founder and Managing Director), Gabby Gabriel (Les Queer and R U OK? Ambassador), and Yolanda vom Hagen (Degree Photodesigner), nominated 20 finalists that exemplified original and thought-provoking artwork, and from these, three winners were selected.

The winner of the High School prize was Elizabeth Chen, Year 9 from Concordia International School, for her impressive creation representing a meaningful conversation.

The winner of the Middle School prize was Audrey Bishop, Year 6 from Shanghai United International School (SUIS), for her unique reflective piece on self-perception.

The judges also highly commended three Year 6 students from SUIS, Anna Liu, Charles Zhang and Susan Shen.

R U OK? Day participants also voted for the People’s Choice winner, Dean Stacey, Year 8 from Western International School of Shanghai, with his intelligent and creative digital design.

These wonderful artworks will play an important part in the R U OK? 2018 campaign, with the three winners being offered a mentoring opportunity with the judges.

Congratulations to this year’s winners. And of course, thanks to all those students who participated and put their original artwork out into the world.
