the-primary-school-storytelling-week-at-ssisThe art of storytelling is alive and well at Shanghai Singapore International School (SSIS). In the SSIS primary school, storytelling is being practiced as an important teaching strategy, where teachers use fascinating stories to ignite student interest in literature, help them create vivid mental images and activate their thinking processes.

From October 10 to 17, all the primary school students at SSIS were invited to gather in the Drama Room during lunch time to hear exciting tales like The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, Children Make Terrible Pets, and Fantastic Mr. Fox. On October 16 and 17, Mr. Andy Wright, a famous international storyteller, came to SSIS and gave some highly interactive storytelling performances in the auditorium. Students and teachers were also invited to attend workshops conducted by Mr. Wright.

This whole event was aimed to promote the love of literature among SSIS primary school students. Many students expressed that they really enjoyed these vividly told stories. This event enhanced their English listening and reading skills, encouraged the use of their imagination and allowed them to experience diverse cultures.
