sris-60s-day-sOn April 1st, Shanghai Rego International School (SRIS) Year 6 students had a fantastic celebration of life in the 1960s. They had visits from greats such as Mick Jagger, Martin Luther King and the infamous Beatles as well as a selection of Hippies from the time.

The day started with some “peace man” time, listening to music by people such as Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell. Later there were reenactments of some memorable events from the era: the 1966 World Cup, Fashion and the 1969 Moon Landing.

As lunchtime approached Woodstock got underway in the glorious sunshine where the students sang and lay on the ground enjoying life and lunch outdoors.

In true 1960s style, life wouldn’t be complete without a protest march. After lunch the children prepared for this grand finale by painting banners to protest against issues such as the environment, war and homework.
