Shanghai Rego International School (SRIS) is very proud to be given regular Membership of the Council of International Schools (CIS). This means Rego aspires to and is in agreement with the standards for accreditation with CIS. These include Philosophy and Objectives, Curriculum, Governance and Management, Staff, Student Support Services, Resources, and Student and Community Life.
The Council of International Schools is the premier organization in International Education for the accreditation of schools and best practice development. CIS is a not-for-profit organization for a truly worldwide international educational community comprising over 650 member schools and 450 colleges/universities. The main purpose of CIS is to enable member organizations to achieve and deliver the highest standards in international education and continually improve the outcomes of student learning.
Membership is at 3 levels of increasing difficulty for schools to achieve. SRIS is at the level of regular membership and this has taken 9 months to achieve after becoming first of all provisional members in May 2009. This process is very thorough and makes schools both reach and sustain the highest international standards of educational best practice in all the areas mentioned above. External CIS visitors meet with not only the Principal and senior team, but also parents, students, teaching staff and the Chair of the School as well as seeing the daily activities and operations of school life.
