On October 20, Girl Scouts of Shanghai Community International School (SCIS) Hongqiao campus hosted a successful Breast Cancer Awareness Walk-A-Thon! Over 80 girl scouts from several international schools in Shanghai Puxi walked around the soccer field in honor of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Wearing pink, the international color of breast cancer awareness, the girl scouts earned money for every lap they completed through generous sponsors and amazing parent volunteers. A Puxi favorite, Spread the Bagel, donated delicious bagels to keep the scouts energized. SCIS Girl Scouts and their sister scouts showed great enthusiasm and commitment to the goal of raising money for the Susan G. Komen foundation (www.komen.org), a foundation dedicated to education and research about causes, treatment, and the search for a cure for breast cancer.

As 1 in 4 girls are in some way affected by breast cancer, this is a worthy cause for girl scouts and SCIS girls made a fun & healthy day towards the fight!
