Scholarship Following competitive examinations and interviews, 8 students were awarded BCIS (Beijing City International School) Scholarships for entry into Grades 10 and 11 in September 2008.

The purpose of the BCIS scholarship program is to provide an outstanding educational opportunity for academically gifted students. The selection process, open to all, started as early as April this year, and all candidates were required to not only provide academic records which supported their claim to be “of outstanding ability”, but also specific recommendations from their current Principal or Counselor, citing examples of the very kind of achievements, skills and attitudes the school was looking for.

The candidates went through a set of rigorous and challenging examinations including English, Maths, Scholarship essay and Chinese (if appropriate). Only the short-listed students were selected to sit the interview with the Scholarship Panel.

There is no doubt that BCIS has identified some high-achieving students of outstanding potential for future academic growth. Just as important, the school believes that they will be students who will make telling contributions to the school life outside the classroom – in the many sporting, community, cultural and artistic activities the school promotes and sponsors. BCIS scholars will be leaders, and will be fine ambassadors for themselves, their families, their community, their school and their host country - China.

BCIS is authorized to teach the prestigious and world-recognized IB diploma. The school’s first-class academic program and enrichment activities challenge students to develop interests and talents that prepare them for future opportunities anywhere in the global economy. The BCIS scholarship program is intended for ambitious and internationally minded students planning to attend an overseas university.
