SAS Students Excel in AP Testing 2009

One hundred and forty-one students at Shanghai American School (SAS), Pudong Campus sat 330 AP Exams in May 2009.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance.

Results came in: Thirty-two students earned awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement in the AP Exams. Two students, Michael Chai and Alicia Chen qualified for an AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grade 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Fourteen students qualified for an AP Scholar with Honor Award earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Henry Chan, Philip Chun, Bryn Herdrich, Evan Herdrich, Hyun Kyun Kim, Justin Kim, Christopher Lee, Connie Lin, Sophie Lin, Jessie Liu, Victor Pan, Tyler Schroeder, Sunny Shih and April Zhang.

Sixteen students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with grade 3 or higher. These students are An-Ting Cheng, Soomi Hong, Tzu-Chi Huang, Diane Konecky, David Lee, Jenny Oh, Andrea Peng, Callum Voge, Kai-Ti Yao, Amber Yin, Rajiv Yogendran, Brandon Young, Angela Yu, Brian Zhao, David Zhou and YinYin Zhou.
