wais-2016-igcse-resultThe quality of results was once again comparable with top UK independent schools as 59% of all grades achieved by pupils were A and A*s. Besides excellent A-Level results, students have also received outstanding IGCSE results. Half of all the grades achieved by the pupils were A* or A. In Math 82% of all the grades were A* and in Art all grades achieved were A* and A. The School offers 15 subjects at IGCSE and introduced two new subjects – Statistics and Geography in September 2015. Pupils scored 100% A*-C in both these areas. For the fourth consecutive year, the results are the best of any British International Boarding School in China.
WAIS Deputy Head of Academics Philip Dearden said, “These results once again demonstrate the high quality teaching and learning that takes place at our school. Furthermore it is apparent that the holistic nature of our school has aided our pupils in ensuring that top universities open doors to them. When applying for universities in the UK and the US pupils need more than excellent academic grades. It is clear that our superb sports program, more than 30 sports available, which includes games recognized by leading international universities such as rugby, hockey, swimming, fencing, golf, horse riding and tennis together with our wide range of extracurricular activities and international tours and trips overseas including university visits gives our pupils a significant advantage.”
