Beijing City International School (BCIS), in conjunction with the Little Angels Action Fund, Oberlin Conservatory, Manhattan School of Music, Boston University School of Music, Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, and Ithaca School of Music, put on a show placing migrant Chinese children center stage on August 22nd. The children, no older than ten and helped by the generosity of these institutions, wowed the audience with their sublime skills, after only having had a year of practice.

The evening got off to a wonderful start, with BCIS students singing alongside children from rural China. It was then time for the migrant children to make their mark, playing difficult pieces of classical music by composers such as Strauss and Chopin with consummate skill. After reciting their pieces, they took a bow before leaving the stage to deserved applause.

World-class musicians from the above-mentioned institutions were then allowed to strut their stuff, giving flawless renditions of classical pieces of music composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, Henri Dutilleux, Nelson Keyes, Sergei Prokofiev, Alexander Scriabin, and Franz Liszt.

It was an amazing night full of first class entertainment, with the funds raised at this event benefitting the Little Angels Action Fund (http://www.laafund.org), which provides music education programs for children in the impoverished region of Western China.
