ec9691ed9584ec8ab92011The International Academy of Beijing (IAB) welcomed the appointment of Dr. Phil Yang as its new Headmaster.

With a PhD in Chinese history from University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), he was a professor in Chinese history for 20 years. Not only is he an educator with a strong passion for nurturing talented young minds, but he is also a global businessman with diverse business areas including the ethnic town development company called CKT Development and Daoji Zhonghua (Korea), the Seoul office for the consulting company which forms part of Tsinghua University’s business entities. In Korea, he spearheaded the movement to establish the green card system for the ethnic Chinese in Korea, who did not have any sort of legal status despite of the fact that they were living in Korea for several generations. Thanks to his efforts, the ethnic Chinese, along with other foreign nationals who meet the necessary criteria, are able to obtain green cards since 2002.

A visionary, humanitarian, educator and a true global citizen, Dr. Yang says, “In the so-called “G2” world, in which the U.S. and China play the leading role in the world matters, our students first should learn two important languages: English and Chinese. They need to speak these languages fluently and they should also learn both cultures of the U.S. and China that are probably more important than their languages. In this way, our students are able to learn how to connect with each other and how to respect each other. To be sure, IAB will be a school which to make our students Connect with each other, Respect each other, and Love each other.”

I taught at IAB for three wonderful years. Then at the end of 2011-2012 Dr. Yang took over. Dr. Yang is a thief and a liar. Do not trust him! He still owes the teachers their salaries for May, June, and July as well as their travel allowances and longevity bonuses. Do not work for him and for the love of God please do NOT send your children to IAB.

What is happening with IAB? Is the school going under? Apparently the school’s owner (or former owner?) fired Dr. Yang after convincing him to raise money. I’m curious as to what exactly is going on over there now. I originally wanted to send my children there and then all this happened! The last thing I knew, a man named Ben-Hur Lee embezzled several thousand dollars, illegally broke into the school by breaking down a glass window in front security guards, and then fired all of the teachers. After this he attempted to hire other unsuspecting, clearly unqualified teachers for the job–meaning, recent college graduates from the U.S. Fortunately most of the graduates realized what the real problem was before it was too late and turned down the positions offered to them at IAB. Again, I hear that these are rumors but there seems to be an awful lot of truth behind them. If someone would be willing to clear things up for me, please post here.
