Continuing to expand and grow, the International Academy of Beijing (IAB) is now offering AP Chemistry. Mr. Benjamin Ketz has just joined the staff team to teach AP Chemistry this year.

"From childhood to now I have always had a curiosity about the world and how things work. That curiosity propelled me through a B.S. (Penn State) and M.S. (Stanford) in chemistry and helped me to teach at both universities…” Benjamin talks about his career and hopes for the new school year: “As a science and chemistry teacher I hope to not only teach my subject but to also help my students think like scientists."

AP stands for Advanced Placement, and reflects the practice that US universities and colleges follow where students who earn excellent scores (usually 4 or 5) on the AP exams receive advanced placement in university and college courses.

Currently, IAB offers AP English Literature & Composition, AP Calculus AB, AP Biology, AP US History, AP Chinese, AP Statistics and, this starting this year, AP Chemistry. In 2011, IAB students averaged scores above the world average for AP US History and AP Biology.  All IAB students attained the highest score of 5 for AP Chinese.
