IAB Bring it for Bethel Foster Home!

The month of November is the annual fundraising month of International Academy of Beijing (IAB), which began with a bold target, aimed at doubling the amount raised last year. IAB students and teachers were oozing with creative ideas to achieve this goal.iab-bethel-3s

Fen and Mao jars were placed in each class, and daily children brought in their small (and not so small!) change to give away. Different elementary classes held events like ‘Waffle Wednesday’ (waffles dripping in maple syrup sold for breakfast!), a Bake Sale, a Second Time around Sale, and a school-wide Pamper Hamper raffle.

IAB secondary school put together a fantastic auction with fierce bidding as staff and students alike tried to secure one of over 60 items including pies, chocolate, games, dinners, toys, access to the staff coffee machine, and more! With so many items up for grabs, time ran out and the remaining items were sold in a silent auction the next day. Bakeries generously donated goods to sell with all proceeds to the fundraising venture. Candy-Grams where thrown in to boot raising a generous amount all on their own!

The tally was made at the end of the month, and the top of the ‘thermometer’ was blown right off! IAB had not only doubled our the target, but had tripled the previous year’s amount, and were delighted to give this to Bethel Foster Home at a special assembly.

Bethel Foster Home is a non-profit organization that takes in blind or severely visually impaired Children. These children are given a loving home environment and taught skills that will assist in helping them pursue a productive life.
