Huge Honors for SSIS Volleyball Team in 2016 ACAMIS Tournament
12 November was the final day of the inaugural ACAMIS Black Division Volleyball Tournament that ended with both tears and joy. Four top teams competed in the semi-final in the morning and the final match took place in the afternoon. It was a breathtaking day since all teams were competing at a similar high level of competitive play.
Shanghai Singapore International School (SSIS) girls’ team was undefeated throughout the tournament, and the streak did not end in the final game. SSIS Sabre Girls were awarded Champion of the tournament! The SSIS boys’ team fought very hard to overcome all odds and won the semi-final game. With all the energy they had left they won the first set of the final and came up short in the next two, leaving them in a respectable second place. All the girls and boys fought for every point in every game.
All teams of Black Division came together for closing remarks, dinner and an awards ceremony on the Saturday night. The girls players Radhika Sharma, Shi Hui Lim and Pei Wen Ong along with boys players John Se Hun Hong and Edward Chen-Hao Ho were awarded a medal and t-shirt as members of the All-Star Team of performers at the tournament. The opposing team voted for this honour after each match.
Everyone enjoyed the tournament experience and no doubt they will have many lasting memories and friendships. Congratulations volleyball players!
