Dulwich College Shanghai has announced that it will be hosting the highly acclaimed Hong Kong Male Voice Choir when it visits Shanghai for the first time in October.

Formed 33 years ago by members of the Welsh Regiment, then based in Hong Kong, today’s choir has more than 70 members from over a dozen different countries. Performing mainly for charity, the choir not only appears at Hong Kong functions and special events but also makes regular trips overseas to places like Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and the Philippines. Choir highlights include performances at the Sydney Opera House and twice at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Perhaps the greatest honor yet conferred on the choir is being invited to perform in a pre-Olympic concert at Alexandra Palace in London next July.

More than 30 members are expected to arrive in Shanghai for the performance at Dulwich College theatre, commencing 7.30 pm on Saturday October 15th. The program for both concerts will include a varied selection of songs ranging from well-known classics and Broadway hits to traditional folk and contemporary “pop”. It will also include joint performances with students from Dulwich College who will also be joined for the occasion by a choir from YK Pao School.

Tickets cost 50RMB for adults and 20RMB for children and can be obtained from reception at Dulwich College Shanghai or by email: tickets@dulwich-shanghai.cn. All proceeds will go to local charities.
