hok-cook-book-coverThe House of Knowledge International School’s (HoK) core values include morality, respect and thoughtfulness, and it is considered of paramount importance that students engage in activities that nurture these values.

With this in mind, the Kindergarten Principal, Christina Germain, decided to create a charity cookbook, with the aim of giving all her students across both campuses something to do together, while at the same time raising money for those in need. As HoK is a so-called “child-led school”, the students from 18 months and onwards contributed at least two recipes per class to the cookbook, ensure that the content was “child friendly”, with bilingual recipes for adults to use at home with their children. Recipes included baby bread, German noodles (spätzle) and anzac biscuits to name but a few. The cookbooks are available at all HoK campuses and the Roundabout store for only 35 RMB.

Money raised from the book sales will go to support the Roundabout charity, providing relief to a wide range of beneficiaries, including the elderly, children in orphanages, low-income families, people suffering from mental or physical handicaps, and women from disadvantaged backgrounds.
