Following the devastating earthquakes that struck Nepal, a group of students at Harrow International School Beijing formed a working committee to raise awareness for the destruction caused, and led house initiatives and whole school events to raise money that can be sent directly to the area.

Together they planned a Nepal charity week (8 to 12 June), aiming to raise as much money as possible to support the British School of Kathmandu, where two previous members of Harrow staff are now working.

The Nepal Relief committee, comprising of students ranging from Year 6 to Year 11 across all six houses at Harrow, planned an exciting week involving various different house events, a non-uniform day, Nepalese food, a Nepal flag tutor group competition, and a huge whole school book sale.

In order to make this work they asked for all students and staff across the whole school to donate a second-hand English book to the library by 10 June, so that during lunch on 11 June they could hold a whole school book sale, at which all books were 5 RMB.
