The Education Development Board has announced that Harrow International School (HK) Limited is to be granted the license to establish a new international school at the third school allocation site (boarding school). The school will be called Harrow International School, Hong Kong and it will be the first international boarding school in Hong Kong. Harrow International School (HK) plans to open the school in August 2012.

Harrow International School (HK) will be a co-educational day/boarding school including Primary (Infants/Early Years/Junior) and Secondary (Preparatory/Senior/Sixth Form) sections. The school will be built for a capacity of 532 students in Primary and 580 in Secondary, 290 of who will be in boarding.

Most of the teachers will be British, as is the case with the other Harrow international schools. Harrow School in London will be involved in the establishment and development of Harrow HK.

The school will be developed in four phases. The first phase will take the remainder of 2009 and will lead up to the second phase in 2010 and into 2011 during which time the school will be constructed and the Head Master appointed. The third phase throughout 2011 will involve appointing staff and promoting the school in Hong Kong and the Asia region. Phase four will be the opening of the school in August 2013 and establishing its culture in the first year of operations.
