Gymboree musicFrom March 2009, about 200,000 infants and toddlers at Gymboree centres around the world will start singing Chinese children’s songs, while exploring traditional Chinese musical instruments.

The launch of the Gymboree Asian Music Program will certainly have a massive Chinese cultural impact in over 600 Gymboree centers from nearly 40 countries and regions. In the US, Britain, Australia…all Gymboree instructors will be teaching children Chinese songs, to guide children to explore unique Chinese traditional musical instruments and to get to know Chinese traditional festivals, celebrations and culture.

The proven success of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the excitement for the upcoming 2010 Shanghai World Expo, the fact that Mandarin is becoming the most commonly used language; all these facts persuaded Gymboree to provide kids with a diversity of experience and exploration of different cultures. As Jill Johnston, CEO of Gymboree Play & Music Global, pointed out, “Everyday, over 30 thousand families around the world enjoy their ‘Gymboree Day’. We sincerely hope that our program can cover every unique culture in every country or region.”

Before Asian music was launched, Gymboree music had already included a variety of musical styles, such as African, European-Polka, Caribbean, Latin-American, Pacific Islands and many more.

Greater China has become the most rapid growth region for Gymboree centers with 92 centers opened in 33 provinces opened over the last 5 years.
