Shrek the Third Arthurs School Day

Shrek the Third: Arthur’s School Day Adventure

Young children can play with Shrek on the VSmile TV Learning System or the VSmile Pocket (a portable learning system). There are two modes of play offering two levels of difficulty in each mode: Learning Adventure and Learning Zone. In the Learning Adventure mode, kids use the control pad to steer Shrek. The ogre’s task is to pick up certain items or jump onto ledges and over big gaps while avoiding the enemy and overcoming barriers. Kids can play one of the three mini games which teach spelling, spatial directions, and following directions. In the Learning Zone, the educational fare is more prominent and allows players to solve puzzles, sort items, match shapes, and test memory skills.

Jumpstart World Kindergarten

JumpStart World Kindergarten

Using the computer’s arrow keys to control movement, kids pick a character to represent them in this personalized 3D experience where waterfalls, butterflies and virtual friends make up a colorful world. They set off on different adventures as suggested by other characters in the game. In one adventure, players solve a mystery by interviewing other characters in the game, and in another, players have to make a purchase at the vending machine to help another character in trouble. Players can earn gems, the currency within the JumpStart world, by playing simple learning games in the Reading Arcade or the Math Arcade.

Learn Geography

Learn Geography

Kids in primary school (and adults who want to brush up) can improve their geography smarts and learn about different countries in Learn Geography, one in a line of edutainment games from DreamCatcher. Picture puzzles, trivia quizzes, word games, and other mini-games give kids an interesting way to learn about countries around the globe. Players choosing the standard game mode will be on a global treasure hunt. Players are given clues and must solve them in order to reveal which city they must fly to next. Kids can use the “Geopedia” to study up on their geography and can take a multiple choice “Final Exam” to test what they’ve learned.

Learn Math

Learn Math

Part of DreamCatcher’s edutainment series, Learn Math is a fun way for kids in Grades 1-4 to practice math skills. The game is set in a castle and allows users to personalize their experience using their name and grade level. Players go through the game as little green vampires who must progress through 10 different topics by participating in activities such as arranging geometric blocks, solving maze puzzles, and figuring out the cost of items in a store. As players work through each task, they will learn new concepts, practice them, and even master brief quizzes to ensure that the lessons have been understood. The game allows kids to see the relationship between math concepts and real examples.
