ycis-bj-air-quality-photoThere’s no hiding the truth that it does play a large role in a school’s short- and long-term planning. Pollution is a concern for all people who reside in Beijing, but arguably more so when it comes to families with young children. As part of Yew Chung International School of Beijing’s continuous efforts to ensure the best air quality possible, internal P.M 2.5 fresh-air systems are installed throughout the campus to provide all students and staff with continuous fresh air. The systems are measured through the YCIS Beijing Air Aware website, which displays the live, real-time air quality readings on campus.

YCIS Beijing General Manager Jing Yang shared more: “We’ve always had quite strong pollution measures in place such as IQ Air Filters in all classrooms, but we implemented a huge renovation period just before the summer and during the summer holiday. We now have an internal PM 2.5 fresh-air system installed in all classrooms, offices and corridors in order to provide all students and staff with continuous fresh air. We can also monitor this system at all times during the day to make sure there are no problems. All windows throughout the school are high quality, airtight and wind pressure resistant windows manufactured by German company Schüco. All external doors are airtight and high insulation doors produced by German manufacturer Hörmann. We also have Panasonic air curtains installed at all external doors to further improve air quality, acting as additional barriers between the indoor and outdoor environment. We have indoor playing areas for all year levels in the school including Kindergarten and Primary indoor play areas, a large gymnasium, the student café area and student lounges.”
