EtonHouse International School - Yiwu held a Numeracy Week from March 28 - April 1 as a special celebration of Mathematics in everyday life. On the last day of the Numeracy Week, the EtonHouse school community organized a fund-raising bazaar. The event was aimed at allowing children to experience on-site sale transactions and play number related games for memorable examples of how mathematics can be applied to real life. All the money collected from sales and games will be donated to earthquake-hit areas in Yunnan and Japan. It is a chance for the children to cultivate their care for others and build a sense of mutual assistance.

On the day, many parents donated their time and many wonderful items such as toys, books, CDs, jewelry, dolls, and stationery. Some parents who own a factory donated products they produce. EtonHouse students, parents, and staff worked and played together to make the day a great success.

In response to the recent earthquake in Yunnan and the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, EtonHouse International Education Group has launched fund-raising activities for charity across all of its 43 schools in Asia. This is the first time all of EtonHouse’s 43 schools are coordinating their efforts to one charitable cause at the same time.

EtonHouse Yiwu’s principal, Jeremy Van from Canada, said: "EtonHouse will organize a variety of topic related activities each semester, such as our literary week read-a- thon, numeracy week, Earth Day and other activities for students to enjoy the application of knowledge and social skills to real-world experiences and interaction with the wider community in Yiwu.”
