Dulwich Shanghai Girl Takes First Prize at the Eco-Art China Campaign

Wednesday 15th August 2012 Touchmedia completed its fourth year of the Eco-Art China campaign to boost knowledge about reducing, reusing and recycling household and office waste. Dulwich College Shanghai are thrilled to announce that their Head Girl, Sonalika Jain, was the winner of its annual waste into art contest.

The winning works will form part of the Eco-Art China Exhibition, featuring 206 works from 22 countries, ranging in age from 5-70. The free exhibition is open to the public from 10am to 10pm daily on all levels of Plaza 889, 889 Wan Hang Du Road until the 29th August. The exhibition includes selected contest entries and professional artists, where 62% of the local entries were made by children under the age of 14.

Dulwich College winner Sonalika Jain was presented with her first prize by Jiang Nan, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee from Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau and Micky Fung, Executive Chairman and Founder of Touchmedia.Sonalika commented on her winning work saying, 

"I am honoured to have received the first prize for the Eco-Art China 2013 campaign for "Chakra", a sculpture that I created from recycled magazines.. I have always wanted to contribute to a greater cause through my passion for art, and I hope that this contest has helped us participants to increase the awareness of the growing need for recycling. I am very grateful to the Eco Art Team, to Dulwich College Shanghai and my art teachers for their support."
