The goals of the society are many and varied, from holding an annual International Schools Choral Festival and an annual Internationals School Choral Competition to sharing music resources between schools and discussing further collaborations between music departments overall.

Dr. Martin Adams, Professor of Music from Trinity College Dublin and a world-renowned Purcell and Baroque scholar, came to DCB for the duration of the Festival and oversaw its start.

In addition to DCB, International School of Beijing, the British School of Beijing, Western Academy of Beijing, Beijing BISS International School, Xiamen International School , Qingdao International School of Shandong, South Island International School Hong Kong and British International School Jakarta also participated in the event.

There were over 100 singers, an orchestra of 16 and soloists taken from the choir. At the Gala Concert on April 5, they performed Faure’s Requiem.

The Festival and performance of Faure’s Requiem was an outstanding success, giving people in this region their first chance to hear such a glorious work.

According to Shane O’Shea, from DCB music department and the organizer of the event, next year’s festival will be held in South Island School, Hong Kong in March.
