dulwich-suzhou-graduation-2015Friday 29 May was a big day for 17 of Dulwich College Suzhou students, who celebrated their High School graduation from Dulwich as the Class of 2015.

The graduation ceremony was attended by parents and invited guests of the 17 graduating students. As part of the ceremony each student was also inducted as an International Old Alleynian, the name for former pupils of the International Dulwich Colleges and in honor of Edward Alleyn, founder of Dulwich College London. Old Alleynians include many celebrated figures such as explorer Ernest Shackleton and writers such as PG Wodehouse, as well as leading scientists, academics, actors, film directors, entertainers, politicians, judges and sportsmen.

Dulwich Suzhou graduates will be going on to many prestigious universities around the world, such as the London School of Economics, Imperial College London, Nottingham University, University of Toronto, Instituto Europeo Di Design (Italy), University of Washington, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and Brock University, Canada. They will go on to study many diverse disciplines from law, biomedical sciences, nursing, computer science, naval architecture and ocean engineering, business, physics, interior design and environmental engineering.

The ceremony was held in the new theatre at Dulwich College Suzhou where the graduates have been able to complete their education at a school with facilities that are second to none. Having the best possible learning environment is a top priority at the college, where there has been huge investment to ensure the best indoor air quality with filtered fresh air systems installed throughout the school.

Dulwich College Suzhou has just announced its latest development plans for a completely new playground for their Early Years students. Opening in August 2015, it will give their youngest students an exciting opportunity to experience a more natural environment.

Headmaster, John Todd commented, “No other international school in Suzhou provides a better learning environment for their students. We have been able to give our graduates the best possible start. We are very proud of what they have achieved already and know that they will go on to attain even more success in the future.”

The graduation morning ended with the Alleynian Farewell Walk where the 17 students formed a procession around the college, their path lined by all of the students from the rest of the college cheering them on. The ceremony finished with the traditional throwing of hats into the air!
