dulwich-sh-joseph-the-u10-fencing-champion_1Joseph, Year 5 student at Dulwich College Shanghai, won the China U10 Grand Prix. With 260 fencers taking part in the competition, this was China’s biggest ever U10 event. Joseph is now reigning China U10 champion at all levels.

On 1 May, China Fencing Association (CFA) hosted the China National Club League in Tianjin, which was the biggest event of its kind in China to date. With 260 U10 boy fencers in his category, Joseph fenced for 10 hours to take Gold at 11pm. Before this victory, he had achieved gold in national and international championships in Australia, Singapore and London in his age group in 2015.

Joseph is 10 years old now and was introduced to fencing 4 years ago through Dulwich after-school activities. With the school’s strong support, Joseph has joined Coach Matthew Haynes, developing the Dulwich fencing program, and is helping to introduce fencing to nearly 100 students involved in this program.
